Summary of Accomplishment/Quote from Coach: Senior Zach Dwyer lead the Knights in two opening week victories averaging 10 points and 11 rebounds per game against Terra Nova & Design Tech being a lead both on the court and in the classroom.

Summary of Accomplishment/Quote from Coach: Senior Taylor Kwan performance in the Varsity Volleyball team last three matches as starting Libero has been outstanding. She had a total 70 plus digs in the three matches and 15 serve aces.

Student Name: Gabe Flanagan

Grade: 10th

Sport: Cross Country

Summary of Accomplishment/Quote from Coach: Gabe has been one of our most consistent athletes over the past two years. Earlier this season, out of respect for his hard work and improvement, his teammates asked for him to represent the Varsity Top 7 in one of our league meets. Since then he’s now been voted by his teammates as our Core-Value MVP. Not to be lost is that fact that he’s a very diligent student and works extremely hard to manage the demands of both school and sport. We all look forward to seeing Gabe continue to grow in track this spring and potentially into a full-time varsity runner for his Junior year in Cross Country.

Summary of Accomplishment/Quote from Coach: While Miles has participated and contributed to the team since his Freshmen year, this year he has blossomed into one of our Varsity Top 7, supporting the team in it’s quest to reach the CCS championships. He was voted by his teammates as our Core Value MVP for the week and his coaches look forward to seeing him continue growing in the season’s ahead.

Summary of Accomplishment/Quote from Coach: Camryn has lead team in kills the last couple of matches with total 35 kills. Her play has been outstanding this season.

Sport: Girls Water Polo 

Summary of Accomplishment/Quote from Coach:Senior Lucy Wilson for her unselfish display around the concept of being a team player. She stepped up to play goalie for us in our final two games of the year and helped us compete in two tight losses even though she was out of her regular field position. She never flinched as she moved back into goal to help the team out, demonstrating courage in the face of adversity.

Sport: Boys Water Polo 

Summary of Accomplishment/Quote from Coach: Brody led our team to a 11-7 victory over Woodside. The Win puts us into a CCS Play In Game. Brody scored 2 goals, had 2 assists, and 2 steals while leading our team on the defensive end. 

Student Name: Camille Williamson
Grade: 9th
Sport: Girls Tennis 
Summary of Accomplishment/Quote from Coach: Camille is usually a doubles’ number one player, but on Thursday (10/19), she stepped up to play singles #4. The usual number four singles player was unable to make it to the match, so Camille Williamson was moved up based on her hard work and determination in her other matches. She hits calmly with consistent forehands, backhands, and steady serves. On the day of the match, she fought for 3 sets, and finally, she beat her Burlingame opponent. Even though the team lost to Burlingame, Camille persevered to finish her match by beating her opponent!  I am very proud of Camille, she is only a freshman but she has demonstrated great sportsmanship and I am glad to have her on the team!

Summary of Accomplishment/Quote from Coach: In less than three months of running as a freshmen, Nathan has established himself as one of the most consistent athletes on the team and our fastest freshmen. He’s definitely earned the trust and respect of his teammates, who nominated him as our athlete of the week.

Summary of Accomplishment/Quote from Coach: 
Minami Suruki, girls’ tennis team number 3 doubles is the perfect example of a consistently hardworking athlete. She always arrives to practice on time and her dedication to the team is visible through her performance during practices and matches. Minami not only demonstrates hard work she also shows great sportsmanship by cheering for her teammates.  With her and her partner consistent shots, they were able to defeat Half Moon Bay quickly.

Haley Blundell for her consistent rotation of field positions and stellar defense shutting down Mills leading scorer to lead us to victory in a tightly contested game.

Summary of Accomplishment/Quote from Coach: 
Celine Liu, plays #2 singles on the girls’ tennis team and serves as co-captain of the team. She is a great role model for the whole team when she puts her heart into each game and always cheers for her teammates. She works hard at every practice, motivating the team to do so as well. She fights for every single match she plays and can be seen through the match against Aragon. Hillsdale was able to defeat Aragon 4-3, a huge honor as the last time the girls’ tennis team defeated Aragon was in Fall 2014.

Carson is one of our leading Varsity athletes, he leads team workouts, motivates his teammates, and was voted by his teammates as our “core value MVP” for exemplifying our three team-selected values for the season: Consistency, Joy, and Perseverance.

Student: Madison Luzar

Grade: Senior

Sport Girls Water Polo

Summary of Accomplishment/Quote from Coach:

Great defensive effort in a tight game VS. HMB. After losing 21-2 in the first effort earlier in the season, Madison has made some changes to her defensive approach and was able to increase her defensive steals and help shut down a very potent HMB offense, cutting their offensive attempts in half from the first time we played, single handedly keeping us in the game and we eventually only lost 10-7. She has been nothing but tenacious all season as our 2M defensive player, however this past weeks performance was EXCEPTIONAL.

Sport Girls Golf

Summary of Accomplishment/Quote from Coach:

Captain Coop shot a 38 followed by a 41 last week. Mel has worked hard Year round to improve her golf game and her commitment has paid off this year. She is a 3 year starter and has shown great leadership skills all season as one of the captains. Keep up the good work Coop!

Summary of Accomplishment/Quote from Coach: As the team captain and the No.1 Singles player of the girls’ tennis team, Jamie consistently works hard to serve as a good role model for her team. She constantly cheers for her teammates and has kept the team focused on training hard, while also demonstrating great sportsmanship during her own tennis matches. 
Jamie also displays dedication and commitment to the tennis team outside of practice. She always sends reminders to her teammates about upcoming matches and organizes schedules for parent drivers to transport players to away games. She is one of the best captains the girls’ tennis team has ever had.

In only her Freshmen season running Cross Country, Lillian is one our team’s most consistent and fastest runners. It was incredibly brave and inspirational to race “Varsity” for her first league meet. She raced extraordinarily well. Coaches Kevin, Mike, and Sheryl agreed to choose her at athlete of the week unanimously and look forward to coaching one of the program’s bright stars for years to come.

Accomplishment: Noah is a model of bravery and enthusiasm for our team. He’s not the fastest runner, but he shows up for every practice and runs every race with a big smile and positive attitude. His presence on the team inspires me.

Summary of Accomplishment/Quote from Coach:Grant and Noah led our team to a 3rd place finish in the Serra Varsity Tournament. Noah led our team with a combined 14 goals and dominated on the defensive end, while Grant had 12 goals and 5 assists leading our offense. 

Also, earlier in the week they each had 5 goals vs Carlmont in a critical win in the bay division. 
Student Name: Solana Deguchi

Sport: Girls Tennis
Summary of Accomplishment/Quote from Coach:
Solana Deguchi, number 3 singles for the Hillsdale Girls Varsity Team, has won matches against Mills and Half Moon Bay. Both of her wins show her dedication to perseverance and hard work. With her consistent forehands and backhands, she was able to defeat her opponents quickly. Being a senior on the team, she serves as an inspiration to underclassmen.

Sport: JV Water Polo
Summary of Accomplishment/Quote from Coach:
Mai Vy was the spark plug for our first JV Water Polo victory (7 to 2) against the Mills Vikings on Sept 12th.  She scored three of our seven goals in the game.  Mai Vy is an energetic swimmer that never stops sprinting up the pool.  Even in our loss against Half Moon Bay (11 to 4), she was a bright spot that scored two of our four goals. Her enthusiasm and effort are contagious.

31 CARRIES FOR 215 YARDS, ALSO HAD 7 TACKLES ON DEFENSE
CAREER HIGH FOR CARRIES AND YARDS.

HAD A GREAT GAME VS A TOUCH OPPONENT – PLAYED HARD AND DROVE OUR TEAM TO A WIN WITH A PHENOMENAL SECOND HALF EFFORT.

Summary of Accomplishment/Quote from Coach:
Julia Richardson, girls’ tennis number 3 singles has been an amazing team player for the past several matches. She works hard every single day at both practices and matches. Her hard work has paid off with her beating her opponent swiftly with un-returnable shots and serves. Although she was recently injured during a warm up before a match and won’t be able to participate for most of the season, the other players still consider her to be apart of the team and waits for her return.  

Name: Margaret (“Maggie”) Bright.

Summary of Accomplishment/Quote from Coach: Competing consistently with both Track and Cross Country, Maggie is a dedicated runner and her personal improvement (most recently in the Lowell Invitational) reflects this. In addition to hard work, Maggie brings joy and positive enthusiasm to the team every day and plays an especially pivotal role leading our up and coming girls team.

Sophia Roser, a current sophomore is the #4 singles on the girls’ tennis team. For the past two matches, she has been the first one off the courts, defeating her opponents quickly. Sophia has shown great attitude during both practices and games. Her hard work during practice has paid off when she aced opponents and played aggressively throughout her matches
